Hello all and welcome to Eclectic Haberdashery, a website that you'll hopefully enjoy in some way shape or form. The idea for this website came out of a picture I saw on the internet back when Rebecca Black was a big deal. It did this insanely deep breakdown on her song Friday, putting meaning in where none was meant to exist. It was hilarious. Rip roaringly so.
Now there might be some familiarity with contemporary literary criticism, but as a refresher post-modernist critique dictates that there are 3 meanings to a piece of art: what the creator intends, what the media holds, and what the reader sees. This is an attempt to skew that triangle. To force it so far into the absurd that there might be a moment when some creation is viewed and an insane thought rises in your head and guess what, that idea will be right. Art holds whatever value we assign it. Don't let someone tell you that you're wrong for thinking the metaphor means something else. That the creator actually this instead of that. Because that doesn't matter as much as what you think it means...as long as you have something to back your position up.
So go look at new media.
Experience art.
And make sure you realize, it's only meaningless when you refuse to give it meaning.
We hope you enjoy.
